We always want what we don`t have. Maybe we want to be skinny, taller or we just desire more curves. Would it make us happier? No, it won’t. We are bullied and then we start hating our bodies. Everywhere we look around there are pictures of perfect silhouettes and “body goals” labels. You print one picture and hang it in your room to motivate you. It doesn`t; it makes you hate your body even more. You sign up for a gym membership. And then you go to the gym for few days in a row. You are enthusiastic! A later bit after, you just give up. You think bullies are right and you would never be good enough. You still have to go to the gym as you paid for your monthly pass. Every single day, you hate it. Please, do yourself a favour and stop.
The only reason why you should work out is that you love your body. You need to love your body enough to take great care of it. After all, we all want to live longer and have more time to make our dreams happen. I remember how much time I lost doubting myself, thinking I am not good enough; thinking my body is not enough. And then I started to use social media in my favour. I am always inspired by real stories, by people standing up for themselves and others. They share kindness and encourage us to stop body shaming, they are so positive and open-minded. Now, that you are ready to use the time in your favour and exercise, you need proper workout clothes.
Today I have teamed up with Apricot to show you why it is important to love your body more and have the right activewear. The phycology behind the clothes shows they bring you confidence. You believe those shoes will make you run faster and they will. Just try to exercise in a suit. Would it work? Not really. This leads me to the next reason: performance. You need to wear the right clothes for the type of activity you perform: running, indoor workout, hiking, swimming, etc. Imagine yourself running in a pair of unbreathable baggy pants. How are you performing? Not great. You need a fabric that will wick away the moisture caused by sweat so you can exercise better. So instead, choose breathable fitted textiles. Don`t forget about the freedom of movement. Always wear the equipment you feel comfortable in. You will not have great results if you choose an item that is too tight or too loose on your body. I tend to stay away from crop tops at the gym because they reveal too much, just my personal preference. I can`t talk about activewear pieces without mentioning their protection role. Don`t try to defeat mother nature and go running in shorts when there -5 degrees Celsius. I am not saying you shouldn`t try it this once to boost your metabolism but you need to remember to protect your body according to the cold/ warm season.
