Welcome back to another Talking Trends post. My voice is the online version of the Fashion Police, analysing trends I like and trends I like less. It is just my subjective approach; I am not judging nor saying you should or shouldn`t wear these items. I am here blighting some trendy pieces, but if you see me choosing them five years later, please shot me. Gucci belt and fur loafers. Seriously?
What happened to the original idea of being yourself? I am not saying you shouldn’t get inspiration, but when you see ten influencers wearing the same Gucci belt and fur loafers, you start thinking you need one too! “The Gucci logo has now become synonymous with luxury, style and fashion”. Really? Luxury yes, because one pair of these fur loafers cost over
£700. But stylish? You don`t need an exquisite tag on your clothes to rock any outfit. Fashion bloggers nailed styling the Gucci belt, but it`s still something I don`t quite like.
Let`s have a look at their logo. The Gucci logo, two interlocking “Gs” are the initials of Guccio Gucci – the famous founder. Does it seems familiar with the Chanel logo? Yes. At least Gabrielle Chanel was authentic when she created her logo culling inspiration from the stained glass of a Chapel in Aubazine. Gucci pieces are not classic items, and maybe that`s why there are not my favourite. Another reason I dislike the Gucci belt is practicability. I know you will probably say the belt is an accessory but the belt is meant to support your trousers or any other article of clothing not to show two random and identical letters.
And now the ideal shoes everyone should have in their wardrobe: The (Gucci) fur loafers/ slides… I am just kidding. I don`t want to use the word hate to express how much I dislike them, but I don`t know how to say it. Why is everybody so excited about the fur loafers? I see loads of people styling them, and I wonder in which climate can you actually wear them? Maybe from your car to the mall and back to your car again? The open back and the fur lining is not perfect for the cold or warm season either. I see them perfectly for indoor decor to chill out so no one can see how kitschy these loafers are.
What do you think about the Gucci belt and the fur loafers/ slides trend?
