Surviving Black Friday & Cyber Monday with PrettyLittleThing

SSurviving Black Friday & Cyber Monday with PrettyLittleThing knits jeans sales

How much does it rain in England? Is the most frequently asked question when I go back to my home country, Romania.  Coming from a state with four beautiful seasons, I have to admit I miss the good weather. I crave for crazy colours and heatwaves. Do I need to mention how distinctive each season is?  And Yes, it’s raining cats and dogs in England. And for British people, the weather is probably their favourite subject. How did my wardrobe change when I moved here? Let’s just say I have an impressive collection of jackets/coats and sweaters. In my stubbornness, I still collect dresses and skirts and wear them everywhere. On the hills and fells? Why not?

I wrote in a previous blog post how important it is to buy clothes, for now, and not for a future you. Your bank account will thank you. I do sometimes forget. And then  Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales remind me I need new clothes.

There are some garments I`d buy over and over again for winter, not just today on Black Friday.

A KNITTED DRESS

I do not miss any occasion to wear dresses even during the cold season. Knits remind me of my grandmother. In my childhood, I was captivated seeing her knitting using metal needles. She used to make knitted jumpers, vests, socks and her creations were carefully finished. For me, handmade pieces are so unique and always tell a story. Unraveling the history of knitting, we go back in time when this occupation was only for men. Can you imagine that? Man sitting down and knitting gracefully? At least William Lee of Nottinghamshire was inspired when he invented the first knitting loom in the 16th century. A SNUGGLY JUMPER

Baby, it`s cold outside. Wait until you go to Romania. Some days,  the cold air masses lower the temperature around -20 °C in the winter season. I think I will stick with the rain and stop complaining when it` s pouring down. For both situations, a cosy jumper saves the day. I’ve seen so many retailers selling snuggly jumpers. I am talking about a velvety looking material called chenille. In fact, the term chenille is French and means caterpillar. The chenille yarn resembles caterpillar legs so probably that`s where the name comes from. At least the fabric is fluffy.

A CHRISTMAS JUMPER

When it comes to jumpers, I love details: stripes, geometry, cable knit, Christmas inspired.  You can easily style them with a pair of simple jeans/pants. For me, there is no Christmas without HOME ALONE. So I had to include jumper related to the movie. Moreover, Christmas jumpers remind me of The Ugly Christmas Sweater Contests held in America. I can forget about the Christmas Jumper Day. This is a cool fundraising campaign initiated to raise money and awareness for the organisation Save The Children

Cum s-a schimbat garderoba mea?

Vi-i inchipuiți?

Feșăn, feșăn dar tare-i frig.
